DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO

The Centre

A clear mission.
A shared future.

Support artisanal miners in understanding procedures, organising their activity and gradually accessing financial services.

A working and coordination meeting.
01

One Centre.
Connected pathways.
A field discussion using a tablet to understand support needs.

CIFTAM, the Centre for Financial Inclusion of Artisanal Mining Workers, connects field support, institutions, technology and finance.

The Centre reduces gaps between artisans’ needs, file preparation and referrals. Its value lies in clear pathways and effective coordination.

A common ambition guides this work: helping artisans, cooperatives and communities organise their activities and build economic autonomy.

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR GENERAL

One conviction.
A commitment to people.

“This vision rests on a conviction: when miners are better identified, organised, supported and connected to formal economic channels, they become development actors able to build a track record, save, invest and more easily meet the obligations that apply to them.”
Original French text

« Cette vision repose sur une conviction : lorsque les exploitants sont mieux identifiés, organisés, accompagnés et reliés aux circuits économiques formels, ils deviennent des acteurs de développement capables de bâtir un historique, d’épargner, d’investir et de respecter plus aisément les obligations qui leur sont applicables. »

PRIORITIES

Three convictions.
One guiding approach.

01

Usefulness before complexity

An artisanal miner should recognise their place in the programme, understand the help offered and know how to move forward.

A CLEAR PATHWAY

From an individual need
to a better
coordinated response.

A group preparing documents with a field facilitator.
01

Listen to field realities

Consider activities, travel constraints, understanding of procedures and access to digital tools.

02

Clarify responsibilities

Distinguish CIFTAM support from administrative decisions and decisions by financial institutions or other providers.

03

Organise continuity

Provide clear information, an identified contact, follow-up steps and complaint channels.

VISION · MISSIONS · VALUES

Organise to include.
Document to create possibilities.

CIFTAM connects community development, digital tools, traceability, governance and financial inclusion. Technology supports people and decision-making; it is not an end in itself.

Its missions include readiness for financial services, support for formalisation, structured pathways and continuity of field information.

Usefulness, trust, rigour, responsibility, inclusion, dignity, transparency and community impact guide every part of the programme.
